MURPHY, Peter - Putnam

“Oakalla” news item – Peter Murphy, a quarryman who worked for Henry Hillis was found dead in the creek beneath the I& St. L bridge Friday morning. He had been to Greencastle the night before, where he had drank heavily and it is supposed that while returning home in a state of intoxication he fell from the bridge, his head striking a stone, which rendered him unconscious and that while in this condition he was frozen to death. This was the Coroner’s verdict. – kbz
